As far as local cemeteries around Manchester, Valley Street cemetery is one of my favorite. The size of the grounds (20 acres) as well as the variety of different styled monuments makes it an interesting place to walk or think about history . The cemetery has been around since 1840 so there is quite a variety of local people of note buried within the cast iron fenced area. I consider this cemetery to be more of a park these days for a reflective walk. This is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Dirty cemetery. Needs to be taken care of better for a historic place.... A Disgrace.

Screw this place, it obstructs a lot of important streets. For some reason they needed a central park like place, but what am awful location

Valley Cemetery has plenty of what I want, and I would like to give it five stars to reflect that. However, in these contemporary times, an unwanted element has been added to this place. Drugs.

During my visit, the scent of pot was in the air, and I observed a number of people who came into the cemetery with no apparent purpose other than to stand around and wait. They weren't enjoying a stroll or milling about looking at historic tombstones. I think they were waiting for buyers of their illegal wares. One such individual saw me and began to approach, but then apparently had second thoughts and backed away. I guess I did not present myself as a buyer.

Although I enjoyed the colorful fall foliage and fascinating tombstones, I began to feel uncomfortable and decided it would be wise to depart. It's really too bad.

Great place for a stroll, take a few pictures during the fall foliage. It really is a nice layout and historical in nature.

I enjoy walking through old cemeteries because they are typically quiet and offer me an inviting place for reflection. Also, the grave markers of yesteryear are so much more artistic and interesting than those of today. Old headstones tell personal stories in such a fascinating way.
