We apologize if we have disappointed our neighbor who wanted to use our parking for driving lessons. However, our parking lot is clearly marked against it. Also, she has not mentioned in her review that her 15-year-old daughter sitting behind the wheel had gotten super-excited and was speeding and honking in our lot, while a friend was videotaping her, and while other cars and people were present! Our lot is not a safe place for driving lessons. A large steel dumpster and an electrical transformer box (visible on the left of the tree) are right inside the parking area and pose a significant danger to the inexperienced driver. Given all of the above, it was in the interest of her daughter's safety and the safety of our parishioners using our lot at the time that we asked her not to be driving in it. I pray to God, she was able to complete her driving practice safely in the appropriate place. We also invite them back during our Sunday Service and Fellowship Hour, in order to offer our apologies in person and to get to know each other better.
This is a wonderful church who welcomes everyone with open arms. For the poster who was annoyed they couldn't use their lot for driving practice, it is private property, the church is entitled to use their land as they see fit. Also, what if your daughter got into an accident? There are insurance issues to keep in mind. If you came to a service, you would see what a wonderful community this church is. :) Everyone is entitled to their opinions though and I respect yours. Sorry you had a bad experience.
We are not members but we do live in the neighborhood and recently brought our 15 year old to practice driving in their empty parking lot. A man drove recklessly behind my daughter following us and told us to get off their "private property". Way to be neighborly, guy. Sorry that we disturbed your otherwise wasted space to make sure that our daughter was safe to drive on the streets. Very uncool!
