It turns out that the replacement deadbolt I had purchased in desperation from a major big box retailer would not fit for my application. Over the phone Dan walked me through the steps to try and install it in order for me to secure my house for the evening. He had me text him pictures and did an excellent job explaining how to make it work and ultimately meeting me on his own time with a replacement part.

Every now and then you get reminded that there are truly good people left in this world. Tonight is an absolute perfect example of this fact. I made a phone call and left a message regarding the deadbolt on my front door that had failed.In less than 30 minutes I had a friendly phone call back from Dan. He was patient with my explanation and offered several solutions to fix my problem.
Dan cared about me and my situation enough to advise me how to get the key working using simple methods just about anyone could do, rather than charging me an arm and a leg to make an actually un-needed trip to my location.
